Turtle Tracking
Using GPS and solar-powered sensors, researchers at UMass are monitoring endangered wood turtles in the Amherst area for ecological conservation. The technology is an offshoot of a broader approach to advance internet technology so that it can be deployed in environments where mobile users have trouble linking to networks.
