Flying Snail

Deep sea creatures use a variety of strategies to survive in their eat-or-be-eaten world, including transparency, fast-changing camouflage, and artificial lights.

Virtually transparent, this pterotracheid heteropod mollusk Carinaria sp has hardly any shell. It flies through the water in pursuit of planktic prey on a snail foot that has been modified into a sort of wing.
