The Art of String Theory

Andrew Hanson of Indiana University used mathematics to model the elegant Calabi-Yau quintic, a prime candidate for the hidden dimensions of string theory. Bathsheba Grossman uses Hanson's mathematical renderings to create 3D artwork, etching the inside of this glass cube using a focused laser.
